Thankyou! {Dorothy the Dinosaur}

Thankyou! to everyone who e-mailed me today with advice on sticky fondant, yes it was too cold to have the air conditioner on and I'm not sure how economical that would be!! I got everything finished without too much trouble, I will post some more pictures next week.

Dorothy the Dinosaur {sneek peak}

I am working on some fondant toppers today for cakes going out tommorrow and it's been raining half the night which is making my icing super sticky and hard to work with!!  If anyone one knows a trick to stop this from happening....let me know!! Lucky for me I only need to do a hat and some eyes today so fingers crossed I can finish off Dorothy without wrecking her.

{Lovebirds... how tweet!} Save the Date Cards

These save the date cards I designed a while ago now, they were printed out on card stock with a megnetic strip on the back.  I also made some hand glittered fondant heart cupcake toppers for this couple, very cute!

Save the Date Cards {Chandelier Engagement}

Save the date cards seem to be really popular not only for weddings but engagements aswell, here is one of the many I have designed lately.  I did a similar set of these for an engagement "announcement", which is a great idea when you live away from most of your family and friends where an announcement in the local paper wouldn't reach them!  The chandelier design would make great diva birthday invitations too, who has a birthday coming up??

{Free Recipe!} Banana Bread

Yesterday my sister in law asked me if I had a banana muffin recipe, all I could give her was my banana bread recipe which my kids love to eat hot out of the oven with a little butter spread on top...mmm.  Today I had a few over ripe bananas in the fruit basket so I thought I would try this mix as muffins instead of in a loaf pan, I added in 1/2 a cup of chocolate chips and they came out pretty good.  So these are for you Carolyn, YES! they do come out OK as muffins.  TIP: give your papers a light spray of cooking oil before you fill them.

My 3 year old son won't eat banana's but he loved these, chocolate makes everything taste good, right!  This is a good one for the lunchboxes...

Quick & Easy Banana Bread

1 3/4 cups SR Flour
1/4 cup plain flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 eggs, lightly whisked
50g butter, melted
2 overripe bananas, mashed (I use 3 or 4)

Pre heat oven 180c & line loaf pan
Combine flours & cinnamon in bowl, stir in sugar, make a well in the centre.  Place the milk eggs, butter & bannana in a bowl and mix well.  Add the bannana mix to the flour mix and stir until just combined.  Pour into pan and bake for about 45 minutes.

Rose and Butterfly Birthday Cake

Here is a 70th birthday cake I made for a lovely lady, this one is adorned with stamped fondant butterfly cutouts and a matching fondant ribbon around the base.  The huge rose was a first attempt at a new technique I had been wanting to try. Inside is a double layer chocolate mud cake filled with vanilla cream icing covered in fondant.  I hope everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day, I did!
I am in the process of giving my blog a complete makeover!!!  and another piece of exciting news for Top That! coming soon.....

Ribbon Roses on Blue Cupcakes

Here are some cupcakes I created some time ago but I have re-created this design many times since, including today!  The flowers have sparkly pink edible glitter on them but it didn't really show up well in the photo. I did 24 of these for a morning tea tommorrow, inside is chocolate mud cake...yum!

Cute Wedding Cake Toppers

I have just been sent the cutest wedding cake toppers!  These are custom made in New York by a place called the Lollipop Workshop I believe prices start at $125USD and they custom make them to look like the happy couple, I don't think they have a website but I will post any further details I get for anyone who is interested.

I would love to be able to make these!

Cute!

Martha Stewart Poms {tutorial}

I recently came across the Martha Stewart site and if you love cooking, craft, diy and the like you will find plenty of recipes, stealworthy ideas and freebies here! Also plenty of wedding ideas aswell, I love these tissue paper poms, they are very easy to make and would look great for almost any celebration.  I hope to be making some bright green ones for my sons fourth birthday party in June.  If your hosting a mother's day party this weekend these would be perfect! Look at the little ones for napkin holders...

Step 1

Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inch-wide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

Step 2

Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes

Step 3

Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

Step 4

Bend wire into a loop to fit around napkin, and twist end around loop to secure

How easy is that? If you come across any great party or cake decorating ideas please send me an email, I would love to hear from you! I have lot's more cake creations to share with you, just a matter of getting a spare minute to post them!  Also my jar cookies...and some really cute ballerina cupcake toppers and I have another shoe cake coming up, be sure to come back soon or why not become a follower so you never miss a post!!
